Chinatown, an Asian influenced district located along the Centre Street in the northeastern part of Downtown Calgary, Alberta, is famous for its Chinese culture and traditional architecture. It is also famous for the popular Dragon City Mall that is located in this district.
In 2010, the community of Chinatown became Canada’s largest Chinese community in terms of area and the third largest in terms of population. There is a famous Dragon dance in Chinatown, Calgary, which is a hallmark of its prevalent Chinese community.
The Chinese Cultural Centre which is famous for its vernacular architecture and décor (designed after Beijing’s Temple of Heaven) is located here. The highlight of this facility is that it is the largest of its type in whole North America.
